Altough the autor begins his book with the statement that Zinnemann's film, entitled "A man for all seasons" not a masterpiece, he does not negate its possessing the hallmarks of greatness.
They issue above all from the fact that Zinnemann trusts the moral greatness of the central character, Thomas Moore and the dimension of the event - a historic turning point.
Grzegorz Królikiewicz's analysis unmasks and describes the methods used by Zinnemann to extract his theme from the hard matter of fact, also how he brings it into relief through the processes of production, montage, dialogue and the play of the actors.
By way of literally microscopic insight into the film's frame, the author of the books grasps the mysterious correlations between the idea for the film and the technical and stylistic means which the director has used in it.
Królikiewicz's grasp and description of this concordance in the fascinating changes of the compositional dominant of the film, is so convincing that the book becomes an independent verbal and graphic essay on its own.
